Mini Kick Scooter – ORANGE, for kids age 3-5, winner of the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold and Platinum Best Toy Award Seals 2009 – ALSO available in Aqua, Pink and Blue Overviews
Designed for kids ages 3-5, the mini is the quality choice in children’s scooters. In 2009, the mini was recognized by the prestigious Oppenheim Toy Portfolio, which awarded it the Gold and the Platinum Best Toy Award Seals. The mini also was named ‘Best Pre-School Scooter’ by Toy Report. What makes the mini fun and unique is its ‘lean-and-steer’ design which allows children to use their body weight to control the steering, giving kids the feeling of ‘surfing’ the sidewalk, as they curve from right to left, almost like a skateboard. The lean-and-steer adds an element of fun and control that young children love. The mini’s 3 wheels provide greater stability. The wheels are Italian-made of highest quality PU, which creates a wonderfully smooth glide. The wheels also make for a quiet ride, a joy for parents and children alike and since they don’t leave black marks on the floor, the mini can be ridden inside. The kickboard is low-to-the-ground and large enough for both feet, making it easy for young children to hop on and off and to switch from pushing, to just enjoying the ride. The ‘spoon’ brake at the back adds additional control, and kids like it because its just like the ‘big kid’ scooters. For parents, the mini scooter’s light weight (only 3.3lbs), means it’s easy to pick up and carry when need be.The mini scooter helps young children to develop their balance, co-ordination and motor skills. The mini scooter is designed with a weight recommendation of 60lbs. Please note that the scooter displays a weight limit of 20kg (44 lbs). The reason for the discrepancy is that European standards dictate that weights are approved in increments of 10 kg (22lbs), so the next available weight category of 30 kg, or 66 lbs, would have put the displayed recommended weight limit OVER its actual recommendation of 60 lbs.The mini is a great mode of mobility for young kids! Available in blue, pink, orange and aqua.

My 3-year old received this scooter for Christmas, and she has been using it for several months now. When she first started riding, she was a little tentative and I think Santa may have had some “buyer’s remorse” due to the fact that the mini-kick isn’t “steerable”. Instead, she has to use her weight to turn. And it took a few tries to figure it out. Now, however, she rides like a pro and has the weight-shifting aspect down. The scooter absolutely glides thanks to the wheels, and she just loves to use it. Because she does have to shift her weight to steer, I think it might make it easier for her to pick up other activities that rely on balance (biking, skate boarding if she desires, etc). Time will tell about that. In the meantime, it’s providing her with much outdoor entertainment. And thanks to its light weight, it’s no problem for me to carry the scooter on those days when she decides she doesn’t want to ride it home (which happens with toddlers from time to time.) Regarding the height, my daughter is very tall for her age (over 39″) and the height of the scooter works out well for her. One of her friends is shorter than she is, and the friend also can ride it pretty easily. Bottom line — Santa chose well. Yes, it’s more expensive than other scooters, but I think it gives you more bang for the buck in terms of sibling pass-downs, and you definitely get what you pay for in terms of quality.

Great for my 2 and 3 1/2 year olds! – minibus – Seattle, WA USA
We bought two of these scooters for my 2 and 3 1/2 year old (the orange and the aqua ones). They LOVE them! They had NO problem getting on them and scooting away. The scooters are the perfect size and will probably last for the next couple of years in terms of size. They are very stable and setup consists of taking two parts out of the box, putting the pole into the base, and … nothing. That’s it. I would definitely recommend these scooters for this age range, from 2 up to maybe 4 or 5 years old, depending on how athletic and how big your child is. I wouldn’t recommend it beyond that age range, it’s just a small, starter scooter.

Bought for 4 year old – Patrick J. Mcnamar – Colorado
Bought this for our four year old grandson. He enjoyed it immensely and was able to scoot around with it almost immediately. Still working on putting both feet on the board but getting close.

Price point is hard to swallow – M. McGrath – Brooklyn, NY
My two-year-old started riding scooters like this when she was about 18 months old, and they are so well-designed. It is light enough for her to carry, and she goes so fast that she can almost keep up with her 5- and 9-year-old siblings. She can ride other scooters, but none give the speed or control this one does. Our only hesitation getting this was that it COSTS EIGHTY DOLLARS. Spending that kind of money on a two-year-old, especially when other scooters are in the forty-dollar range, gave us pause, but in the end, it was like my oldest’s American Girl doll. We couldn’t find a used one, or any less-expensive equivalent. We have been very pleased with it, and expect she will use it for a long time, but I hate the status-symbol, conspicuous consumption aspect of it.

My 3 1/2 year old loves it! – P. Unsworth – NJ, USA
My son is 3 1/2 and he loves this scooter. I was a bit worried that he might be too big for it as is tall and heavy for his age but its great. The first day he couldn’t really steer or use the breaks but after a couple of hours he was used to it. He speeds very fast around the park (definately wear knee pads and helmet). The only problem was by the 3rd day he was waking up at 5.30am wanting to go out on it, he soon calmed down again though. It is so light and easy to transport. Plus when he plays with neighbourhood kids who are a little older (5/6) they still think his scooter is really good because it resembles theirs though it is far more appropriate for his age.
